Mandi

Princely state of Mandi was founded by Bahu Sen in 1200 AD. But Ajbar Sen was the one who founded historical city of Mandi in 1526 AD. The Chiefs of Mandi State are said to be the descendants of common ancestors of the Chandervanshi line of rajputs of Sen dynasty of Bengal who claim to be the descendants of Pandavas of Mahabharata times.

Kartikeya

After the great war at Kurukshetra, the Pandavas were haunted by dreams of dying warriors. To help them heal and sleep well, they were advised to pour sesame oil on the image of Kartikeya that is now enshrined in the city of Pahowa in Kurukshetra district of Haryana.

Bull

feet

When Arjuna and Karna are engaged in a bloody duel, Karna’s chariot gets stuck in the ground, and he is disarmed by Arjuna. While Arjuna hesitates to continue fighting with a disarmed soldier, Krishna reminds Arjuna about the death of his son, Abhimanyu, and Arjuna continues fighting. Karna meanwhile, uses the chariot wheel as a shield to protect himself. Arjuna manages to further disarm Karna, and the fatal arrow has left Arjuna’s bow, but falls on Karna’s feet instead of killing him. While Arjuna stands bewildered at what just happened, Krishna explains that Karna – the embodiment of Dharma – has protected Dharma all his life, and now Dharma itself is protecting him. The only way Arjuna can defeat Karna is if Karna has given away his Dharma also in charity. There is a beautiful verse in Sanskrit that runs:

Dharmeva Hato Hanthi, Dharmo Rakshati Rakshitaha.

(Means: One who forsakes Dharma, is forsaken by Dharma, and Dharma protects the one who protects it.)

In the final scene, Krishna goes to Karna to ask for his Dharma. Karna knows that the only thing that is keeping him alive is his Dharma, that he has stood against all his life, and he knows that the minute he gives it away, he dies. But Karna, being an epotime of Dharma itself, gladly gives it away to Krishna. At this juncture, Krishna shows gives his Vishwarupa Darshanam to Karna, putting Karna’s agitated mind at peace. Ordinary people are incapable of seeing Krishna’s true form, but Karna’s good deeds enabled him to. At Krishna’s behest, Arjuna releases a final arrow that decaptitates Karna.

While saints like Buddha eptiomized Dharma in extreme non-violent form, and while Mahavira did so through non-aggression, Karna truly symbolized Dharma in a Kshatriya’s manner.

Kishkinda

Sahadeva battled the vanaras at Kishkinda for seven days, after which they gave him jewels and requested him to return as per Mahabharata Sabhaparva Chapter 31.

Sugriva, Hanuman, Jambavan etc were not present in Kishkinda then.

  1. Sugriva left this world with rama,
  2. hanuman chose to meditate in the Gandhamadana mountains in Kimpurushavarsha, as per Mahabharata and Bhagavata Dashamaskanda.
  3. Jambavan left Kishkinda and stayed in a cave with his kith and kin, as per the story of Prasena.
Mainda and Dvivida were ruling Kishkinda at the time of Sahadeva’s arrival.

Abhimanyu / Parva / Tube / Movie / Real Father / Versions / Glorious End

Abhimanyu is the reincarnation of Varchas, the son of the moon god. When the moon god was asked to let his son incarnate himself on earth by the other devas, he made a pact that his son will only remain on earth for 16 years as he could not bear to be separated from him. Abhimanyu was 16 years old when he died in the war.
His son, Parikshit, born after his death, remains the sole survivor of the Kuru clan at the conclusion of the Mahābhārata war, and carries on the Pandava lineage.

Real Father

In the course of the Mahabharata war, Abhimanyu, the son of Arjuna (the third of the five Pandava brothers) fought a hard battle one particular day and won. The news of the victory was relayed to Arjuna, who obviously became overjoyed. At the end of the day, when all the fighting had ceased, the soldiers returned to their respective camps. Arjuna wanted to congratulate his son on his magnificent victory. Lord Krsna foresaw this and asked Arjuna where he was going. Arjuna was so proud and happy with his son's victory that he did not bother to reply Krsna. Arjuna ran to his son and warmly embraced him for his valiant and courageous battle that day. But strangely, Abhimanyu was not able to recognize his father. He just looked at his father blankly and asked him, "Who are you?"

Arjuna replied somewhat indignantly, "I am your father, can't you see!" Arjuna was perplexed and saddened by his son's lack of recognition and response. Meanwhile, Arjuna noticed that Krsna was standing near his son, with a broad smile on His face. Krsna asked Arjuna, "What happened to your son? Why could he not recognize his own father?" Arjuna did not respond but just looked at Krsna with tearful eyes. And Krsna said to Arjuna, "You are within maya."

After some time Abhimanyu became normal and talked with both his father and Krsna, as if nothing had happened. He was not aware of the strange drama that had occurred just a short while ago. Abhimanyu was the son of Krsna's sister, Subhadra. Arjuna was married to Subhadra.

Drona, on the other hand, was the general in the Kaorava's camp. He knew a special battle technique to defeat his enemies that was known only to his son, Ashvathama, and Arjuna.

In the meantime, Drona decided that he would fight the following day using this special technique. Drona was aware that Arjuna would be fighting against him on the opposite side together with the Pandavas. During the battle that day, Drona defeated the Pandavas by using this special technique. The following day, when the battle again started, Krsna instructed that Abhimanyu be given the responsibility of fighting Drona. He requested Arjuna to fight with a different person, in a different part of the battle. When everything was set, the battle began in all its fury.

Meanwhile, Drona was absolutely sure that he could defeat anybody with his special technique. This technique, called cakra byuha, involved fighting within a special circle in which the warrior was fully protected from harm. During the battle, the moment Abhimanyu understood Drona's strategy, he decided to penetrate the special circle. Once in the circle, he fought valiantly and defeated all his enemies. When Drona saw that Abhimanyu had entered the special circle, he realized that nobody could now defeat him single-handedly. He then planned to use a different strategy to defeat Abhimanyu, which was against the ethics of war during that era. According to the law, each warrior had to fight his opponent in a one-to-one battle. To defeat Abhimanyu, Drona ordered seven warriors to attack him simultaneously. In this way, they overwhelmingly outnumbered him and managed to kill him.

Arjuna was grief-stricken on hearing of the death of his son. Again, Krsna consoled him by saying, "All are maya. Who is the real father?"

Parama Purusa is the real Father of every human being. During the Mahabharata war, Arjuna was only the loakik father of Abhimanyu. Krsna demonstrated this fact to Arjuna by causing Abhimanyu not to recognize his own father, just to crush Arjuna's ego. In this way, Krsna wanted to teach Arjuna that nobody was his real son, nobody can be killed, and that nobody can kill anybody else. All these phenomena are part of His grand cosmic illusion. Krsna advised, "O, Arjuna, you shouldn't be happy or sad for anybody. Just follow what I say."

This was the ultimate lesson in detachment that Lord Krsna gave Arjuna, something that is applicable even today for spiritual aspirant

Glorious End

"Vasudeva said, 'O lady of Vrishni's race, do not grieve, with thy daughter-in-law, for thy son. timid one, all creatures have but one end ordained by Time. The end thy son hath met with-that becometh a hero of proud lineage, especially who is a Kshatriya. Do not, therefore, grieve. By good luck it is that mighty car-warrior of great wisdom, of prowess equal to that of his father, hath, after the Kshatriya custom, met with an end that is coveted by heroes. Having vanquished numberless foes and despatched them unto Yama's presence, he hath himself repaired to those eternal regions, that grant the fruition of every wish, and that are for the righteous. Thy son hath attained that end which the righteous attain
  1. by penance,
  2. by Brahmacharya,
  3. by knowledge of the scriptures, and
  4. by wisdom.
The
  1. mother of a hero,
  2. the wife of a hero,
  3. the daughter of a hero, and
  4. a kinsman of heroes,
O amiable one, grieve not thou for thy son who hath obtained the supreme end.

'Grieve not, O Subhadra! O Panchali, console Uttara! Abhimanyu, that bull among Kshatriyas, hath obtained the most laudable goal. O thou of beautiful face, let all the other men yet alive in our race obtain that goal which Abhimanyu of great fame hath obtained. Ourselves with all our friends, wish to achieve, in this battle, that feat, the like of which, O lady, thy son, that mighty car-warrior, hath achieved without any assistance.'

Stars

Arjuna--blazing like the Sun himself, ascended the celestial car. And the Kuru prince gifted with great intelligence, with a glad heart, coursed through the firmament on that celestial car effulgent as the sun and of extra-ordinary achievements. And after he had become invisible to the mortals of the earth, he beheld thousands of cars of extra-ordinary beauty. And in that region there was no sun or moon or fire to give light, but it blazed in light of its own, generated by virtue of ascetic merit. And those brilliant regions that are seen from the earth in the form of stars, like lamps (in the sky)--so small in consequence of their distance, though very large--were beheld by the son of Pandu, stationed in their respective places, full of beauty and effulgence and blazing with splendour all their own. And there he beheld royal sages crowned with ascetic success, and heroes who had yielded up their lives in battle, and those that had acquired heaven by their ascetic austerities, by hundreds upon hundreds. And there were also Gandharvas, of bodies blazing like the sun, by thousands upon thousands, as also Guhyakas and Rishis and numerous tribes of Apsaras. And beholding those self-effulgent regions, Phalguna became filled with wonder, and made enquiries of Matali. And Matali also gladly replied unto him, saying, 'These, O son of Pritha, are virtuous persons stationed in their respective places. It is these whom thou hast seen, O exalted one, as stars, from the earth.'

Kali yuga is comming – Bhima and Yudhistira

When Yudhistar Maharaj was ruling this planet, Bhima used to help in solving
problems of people, hence people who ever has any questions/problems would
come to Bhima and ask him for help. One day, one citizen came and asked
Bhima that he noticed a strange thing that day that his fence is moving into
other's place and he is wondering why it happened like that. Bhima can help
if a demon is troubling but not these kind of puzzles so he asked him to
approach Yudhistar Maharaj.

On the same day, another citizen came and told that he came across with a
strange thing that he had a big pot with full of water, he poured that
water into small pots then he poured back from the small pots to
big pot but surprisingly only half is filling into that big
pot. Bhima not knowing what to say, he asked them to contact Yudhistar
Maharaj. Another person came to Bhima and said that he saw a strange thing
that a big elephant is passing through from a needle hole but surprisingly
it's tail got stuck in that hole. Bhima again referred him to Yudhistar
Maharaj. Another person came and said that he saw big rock in the street and
big big personalities are not able to move but a sadhu came and by waving
his Sanyasa danda, it moved. Bhima thinking that it's bad day for him and
all are coming with these strange questions which he cann't help, so he
referred them to Yudhistar Maharaj.

They all went to Maharaj Yudhistara and asked about these questions, then
Yudhistar Maharaj said that, all these qualities shows that kali yuga is
coming and he explains ......

The first symptom is one of the citizen's fence is moving into other's area
shows that people are interested in what other's have and feel unhappy why
they don't have, then think a way to aquire them either hook or crook.

The second symptom is the big pot with full of water when it is poured into
small pots and pour back into big pot, he noticed only half only, which
means that one can expect 50% love/affection/help from others compared what
you did to the same person.

The third symptom is big elephant is going through a needle but the tail is
stuck, it means that people are ready to spend a huge chunk of their
income/strength/resource for the sense satisfaction of thier family, friends
and love(Personal sense gratification) but when it comes to Bhagavan and
Bhagavatha seva they are not ready to spend a little bit also.

The fourth symptom is, big rock not moved by persons who are having lot of
strength but a sadhu moved that rock just by waving his danda, which means
that one can get rid of all their unlimited sins, just by performing
Namasankirtanam.

Though there are so many faults in this kaliyuga, the good thing is, just by
chanting the holy names of the lord, one can get upto the highest benefit of
liberation as mentioned in SB 12.3.51 that

kaler dosa-nidhe rajann
asti hy eko mahan gunah
kirtanad eva krsnasya
mukta-sangah param´ vrajet

My dear King, although Kali-yuga is an ocean of faults, there is still one
good quality about this age: Simply by chanting the name of Lord Sri Krsna,
one can become free from material bondage and be promoted to the
transcendental kingdom of Vaikunta.

PS:I humbly request all the devotees to please forward moral / instructive stories they hear so that everyone can be benefited

Another Version

After the Kurukshetra War the Pandavas felt bad that so many people were killed so their eldest brother Yudhistira could become king. Krishna explained he wanted them to teach dharma for the benefit of all citizens as the age of Kali or degradation was approaching. He asked the brothers to go out and report to him whatever strange sights they saw, and He would explain how they were symptoms of Kali-yuga.

Yudhisthira reported, “I saw an elephant with two trunks.” Krishna explained, “Just like that elephant has two trunks, in Kali everyone will have two faces. Everyone will speak one thing and do another.”

Bhima said, “I saw a big pond without water although all the small ponds nearby were full.” Krishna explained, “In Kali, my representatives are like the big pond, which although deep with knowledge, will have no money and no followers, while so many bogus people will flourish with money and followers.”

Arjuna said, “I saw a bird with writings of the Vedas on it eating the flesh of a human body.” Krishna explained, “That is a symptom of Kali-yuga. In Kali people will learn some scriptural verses and exploit people and take their money.”

Nakula said, “I saw a mother cow who had given birth to a baby and the mother cow was licking the baby cow, so much that the baby cow began to bleed, and it kept bleeding.” Krishna said, “In Kali the parents will give affection to the children by encouraging them unlimitedly in material ways but completely ignoring their spiritual life.”

Sahadeva said, “After a long way, I saw a boulder came crashing down a mountain knocking down everything, trees, buildings, monuments, etc. But just before it struck me, it hit plant which stopped completely its rushing speed.” Krishna explained that the boulder is Kali-yuga personified, and the trees, monuments, and buildings are philosophies trying to oppose Kali-yuga. The little plant is the holy name of the Lord which seems to be very insignificant but which actually has the complete power to stop the force of Kali-yuga.
